About Us

Honest conversations about aging well,
shaped from the inside out

The fifth season is a space for reflection, honesty, and the kind of wisdom that only comes with time. It’s conversations that help us notice what still calls to us—and live from that place.

Recognition

Aging well begins with recognizing the subtle ways we’re asked to disappear—and refusing to vanish. It begins the moment we stop accepting the cultural script and start shaping a life that fits who we’re becoming.

Reorientation

Acceptance isn’t surrender—it’s a turning toward what’s real. It’s understanding your capacities, your limits, and the gifts that remain. And from that honest vantage point, you can choose your next moves in ways that honor who you’re becoming.

Renewal

The fifth season is about flourishing. It isn’t about staying young or holding onto old habits. It’s staying alert to what still calls to us and responding honestly to who we are now—a life shaped from within, where creativity, contribution, and honesty abound.

Meet the Hosts

Dr. Don Drew

Don Drew is an artist, writer, and podcaster who has built a life around one enduring idea: that every season holds the potential to be your best one yet.

Don served as a U.S. Air Force officer, rising to roles that placed him at the center of strategic logistics planning for NATO, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and U.S. Atlantic Command. After his military career, he entered academia and spent 24 years at Oklahoma Christian University, where he founded its MBA program, served as Dean of Graduate Programs, and was named Professor Emeritus in 2024.

Along the way, Don consulted internationally across Africa, Latin America, and the Pacific Rim, earned four university degrees — including a Master of Arts in Theology completed at age 63 — and helped train women entrepreneurs in Rwanda through the Peace Through Business initiative.

Today, Don is leaning fully into what he calls the fifth season of life — with creativity, purpose, and plenty of curiosity. He is co-host of The Fifth Season, a podcast exploring successful aging and the rich possibilities of life’s later chapters. He also co-owns re|MIND, LLC with his wife, Dr. Christy Vincent, which offers executive coaching and renewal retreats for professionals navigating burnout and transition. Together they have five children and six grandchildren.

Dr. David Lowry

David Lowry_compressed

David Lowry is a teacher, writer, podcaster, and co-host of the evolving podcast Fifth Season of Life.

His professional career has been spent in higher education as a professor and college dean. Today he devotes himself to exploring the deeper dimensions of life in its later chapters—where experience ripens into wisdom, and growth takes on a quieter, more meaningful form.

Blending personal reflection, spiritual insight, and a touch of humor, David views life not as a problem to solve, but as a mystery to live into. His work invites listeners to embrace conscious aging with curiosity, resilience, and grace, and to discover the richness that comes from self-awareness and inner stillness.

David follows a philosophy he calls The Inner Elder, which is based on the accumulated wisdom gained through storytelling, life lessons, dream exploration, spiritual and self-realizations, and thoughtful conversation.

He offers a perspective shaped not by perfection but by lived experience—honoring both the struggles and the quiet victories that define a life well lived.

When he’s not teaching, recording, or writing, David stays grounded through daily practices like walking, yoga, and reflection—continuing his own journey of becoming an “inner elder.”
